MacTier, located on Stewart Lake, was originally created as a hub to support The Muskoka Station railway stop along The Canadian Pacific Railway's line from Toronto to Sudbury. Today, while there are no longer passenger trains that pass through the town, it is still a major hub for cargo trains. MacTier is a small town but has everything you need including grocery, hardware and liquor stores, as well as a library & mechanic. There is also a butcher and a pizza parlour, open seasonally.
